Maj-Gen. Prof. Miodrag Jevtić, M.D., Ph.D.
He was born on September 10, 1956 in Smederevo, Serbia and Montenegro, where he completed his secondary education.
He graduated from the School of Medicine in 1981, and specialized in general surgery at the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Belgrade, in 1992. He was appointed an assistant of the general surgery major at the Academy in 1994. He defended his doctoral dissertation titled " Importance of New War Injuries Evaluation Methods for the Unique War Surgery Doctrine" in 1997 and received Ph.D. degree in medical science. He was appointed an assistant professor of surgery in 1999, an associated professor in 2005 and, in 2006, he was nominated as a visiting professor of the School of Medicine in Nis.
He started his professional career in the Cacak garrison in 1984. Throuout his career, he served all the positions achiving the highest results in his service. He has exceptionally been promoted three times and, since 2005, he holds the rank of Major-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
Medicine, education and scientific research work are the fields in which he has achieved. the greatest results throughout his career. He teaches war surgery at the MMA and is a lecturer at the postgraduate Course on "Basis of War Surgery'' at both the MMA and the School of Medicine in Belgrade. He got the highest possible rewards for his achievements in the field of command and control. In the last few years, he was very active participating successfully in treatment of wounded in mass catastrophes, particularly in the field of war vascular polytrauma. The results of his doctoral dissertation and numerous medical references has ensured him a place among professionals in this field of expertise.
He is an active member of many national and international surgeon associations, a permanent member of the Serbian Medical Society, Scientific and Steering Board of the Serbian Phlebologist and Angiologist Association, a member of the Steering Board of the Serbian Vascular Medicine Association, Scientific Council of the Andrejevic Legacy, a member of the European Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association, International Gastro-Surgical Club, European Vascular Surgery Association, American Association of War Surgeons and, a national delegate to the World Military Medical Committee.
He regularly attends all national and international events and gives presentations on his accomplishments and the latest achievements in the field of surgery and the organization of work of the Medical Services. He is the author of more than 150 papers presented and published in domestic and international medical journals. He is a co-author of 10 books published at MMA and in Schools of Medicine in Belgrade and Banja Luka.
In March 2005, he assumed the position of the head of the Military Medical Academy.
