Radiology Institute
The main activity of the Institute is providing diagnostic and interventional radiology services to all MMA’s clinics and other healthcare facilities. It also serves as a teaching site for radiology. Its graduate educational programs offer radiology residencies, Master’s and PhD programs and courses and other forms of education in the fields of ultrasound, CT and MRI and interventional radiology procedures.

History
The development of Radiology Institute is connected with the Military Radiology Service, which was established in 1945. After moving into a new building, it was structured as all modern institutions of that kind.
Services
Radiotherapy Department performs the most advanced methods of external (transcutaneous) radiotherapies, primarily 3D conformal and stereo toxic radiotherapies.
The Institute offers its services through Outpatient Diagnostic Clinic.
It provides radiological services to the military patient population, the insured with the National Health Insurance Institute of Serbia and international patients as well.
It continuously organizes inter-clinical seminars in various fields of medicine for physicians of all profiles and residents in radiology and other specialties.
Examinations
- Chest, abdomen, and pelvis MSCT examination;
- MSCT coronarography;
- MSCT angiography of abdominal organs, extremities, aorta, brain and the neck;
- MSCT examination of the locomotor system and vertebral column;
- Interventional nonvascular procedures under CT guidance;
- MRI of the head, vertebral column and locomotor system;
- Interventional and diagnostic vascular procedures for coronary blood vessels, cranial blood vessels, aorta, peripheral blood vessels (balloon dilatations, stent placement, treatment of the aneurysm of cranial blood vessels and A-V malformations);
- Interventional and diagnostic nonvascular procedures (biopsies, drainage of pathological fluid collections, billiard drainage and stents, percutaneous nephrostomes);
- Standard radiological diagnostic procedures-examinations of the chest, digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine’passage and enteroclisis and large intestine-irigography) and locomotor system, and
- Ultrasound examination of abdominal organs, pelvis, thyroid gland, breasts, testis, children’s hips, blood vessels of the neck, abdomen, pelvis and extremities, and
- Interventional ultrasound examination.
Organizational structure
The Institute is divided in 7 organizational units:

- Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Department

- Diagnostic Doplersonography Department
- MRI and CT Department
- Outpatient Diagnostic Radiology Department
- Radiotherapy Department
The Institute has 81 employees: 22 radiologists, 23 residents (14 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Serbia and 9 for the needs of other facilities in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska), 2 medical physicists, 38 senior radiology technicians, 2 medical technicians, 3 instrument nurses, 1 photo laboratory technician and 12 administrative officers
Equipment
The institute boasts the state-of-the-art radiology apparatuses and machines for various purposes: 2 CT scanners of which one is the most advanced 64-slice CT scanner, 1 MRI machine, 3 diagnostic apparatuses for angiography, 1 apparatus for interventional nonvascular radiology, 4 modern ultrasound machines, X-Ray machines for digestive tract, chest and locomotor system diagnostics, 2 linear accelerators for radiotherapy purposes.
The Institute plans to purchase some more radiology apparatuses of the latest generation in the near future (3-Tesla MRI machine, angio-room, ultrasound apparatuses, mammogram machines, etc.).
