About the Clinic
The Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns is one of the rare clinics in the world dealing with virtually all the aspects of plastic surgery. It is specialized in treatment of the most complex conditions in the field of plastic, reconstructive and esthetic surgery.
The Clinic is staffed by highly trained, skilled and experienced medical professionals with international references for treatment of the most severe burns. It has a top microvascular surgical team as well. Its great experience in treating fissures of the lip and palate in children ranks the Clinic among the leading institutions of that kind in Europe.
The medical staff include 15 specialists out of whom 3 hold Ph.D. degree and 7 hold M.S. degree. The Clinic’s physicians are the authors of over 200 papers published in medical journals and regular participants in national and international congresses.
History
The Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns was founded at the end of the Second World War, in 1945, with the medical support of British plastic surgeons who were the associates of Sir Harold Gilles, one of the worl-class experts in that field.
Its founder and the first head was professor Vinko Arneri, one of the leading plastic surgeons of that time in the world and the author of a great number of papers, books and original surgical methods which made this Clinic recognizable worldwide.
It is the only institution in Serbia applying the most advanced approaches in treating patients in all the areas of plastic, reconstructive and esthetic surgery.
In addition to medical treatment, medical research aimed at improving treatment methodology is the Clinic’s particular concern.
The Clinic also offers advanced medical training programs for young medical staff based on its own needs and the needs of other national and international medical institutions as well.
The Clinic has two Department s which together ooperate 55 beds.
- The Department of Plastic Surgery with 29 beds and
- The Department of Birns with 26 beds.
The Department of Burns has two units for aseptic and septic burns with 13 beds each, two operating rooms, two IC units, two modern dressing sections with baths for hydrotherapy.
The Clinic also has one operating room within the Operating Block and a variable number of beds in the surgical IC unit. The operating rooms boast the state-of-the-art equipment where the most complex surgical procedures in all the areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery are performed and burns are treated as well.

- Microsurgical transfer of tissue in reconstruction of large tissue defects;
