The MMA’s Hematology Clinic is the state-of-the-art military medical facility for diagnosis and the treatment of various diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs.
In organizational terms, the Clinic is divided into 4 functional parts: the First and Second Department with 17 beds each, Department for Hematopoietic Stem Cells Transplantation and Hematology Intensive Care Unit with 8 sterile cabinets (furnished with the most modern and sophisticated equipment) for patients with bone marrow aplasia after cytostatic therapy or during bone marrow transplantation, and Chemotherapy Unit with 4 wards and the Same Day Surgery Center with the bed capacity of 10 for ambulatory patients.

The Clinic applies the state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in the treatment of leukemia (acute and chronic), lymphomas (Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma), myeloma, congenital and acquired diseases, benign and malignant diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs. The Clinic has brought the provision of its services to hematology patients to the level of large world medical centers due to the application of virtually all aspects of advanced diagnostics and treatment. It is achieved through continuous education and training of personnel and teamwork of experts in various specialties at the institutional and wider level.
The Clinic admits over 800 patients a year for hospital treatment. In addition to conventional methods, it performs all forms of hematopoietic stem cells transplantation as well. This procedure was introduced into the Clinic’s practice two decades ago, and since then, has been very successfully performed. Due to the achieved results, the Transplantation Team of the Hematology Clinic has become a regular member of the European Bone Marrow Transplantation Association (EBMT - CIC 582) and accredited for all forms of transplantation. In 2007, the Clinic performed 48 transplantations (14 allogenic and 34 autologous). The success it achieved in the treatment of various hematological diseases can be compared with the results of renowned medical institutions in the world, and the prices of those treatment services are considerably smaller (for instance: the prices for hematopoietic stem cells transplantation with a family donor –allogenic range from1.200.000 do 1.800.000 RSD, depending on the length of the treatment or associated complications).
The Clinic has 43 employees, of which 7 are internal medicine specialists (three with PhD degree, two of them holding the title of professor and one of assistant professor), 5 senior and 22 junior medical technicians, 7 paramedics and 2 administrative officers.
