Endocrinology Service is today highly qualified for the diagnosis and treatment of all endocrine-metabolic disorders and diseases by advanced methods and technology. It is staffed with 10 specialists (two of them operating at the Outpatient Clinic and two in the Functional Diagnostic Unit), 16 medical technicians, 5 paramedics and one administrative officer. The Clinic operates 36 beds (in two departments), Functional Diagnostic Unit and 2 Outpatient wards. It boasts high quality apparatuses, what ensures reliable and early detection of disorders applying various tests and morphologic localized procedures.

The Clinic operates 36 beds (in two departments), Functional Diagnostic Unit and 2 Outpatient wards. It boasts high quality apparatuses, what ensures reliable and early detection of disorders applying various tests and morphologic localized procedures.
As our precursor were concerned with major global problems associated with goiter and cretinism at the national level, we are nowadays reviewing the social-medical importance of unfavorable impacts of the modern urban lifestyle – obesity, inadequate physical activity, smoking and stress, all resulting in arteriosclerosis and associated complications reaching the dimensions of an epidemic
The Clinic has 3 doctors with PhD degree and professors, 2 holders of Master’s degree and two assistants. It has already defined its research projects within the research work framework.
• Genetic aspects of hyperinsulinemia and insulinoresistance (obesity, type 2 diabetes, PCOS type) cooperation with the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences;
• Insulin resistance and endothelial (dys)function;
• Treatment of nodular goiter by application of ethanol, new aspects
• Planimetric measurement and immuno-cytochemical analyses in the reading of cytological findings of the thyroid aspirates
The above-mentioned projects allow for the engagement of physicians to a much broader extent on one side, and the cooperation with affiliated institutions on the other side.
The Clinic’s medical personnel is also trained to treat wide spectrum of endocrinological diseases of various causes. However, it is specific for possessing enormous experience in treatment of suprarenal gland diseases particularly pheochromocytoma and efficient and the well-organized surgical treatment of thyroid gland. The Clinic admits around 1000 patients for hospital treatment. The average length of their hospital stay is 11 days.
The most important services
The everyday Clinic’s work is mostly done within the framework of its outpatient wards and functional diagnostic units, which are the most dynamic part of the Clinic. This Service is, thus, capable for responding to the most common endocrinological diseases within the framework of an integrated team work. Upon complete diagnostics, if required, admission to the Clinic for further hospital treatment is scheduled with the minimum average waiting time of one week at least. Technically, the admission is obtained through the Endocrinology Ward operating within the Outpatient Diagnostic Clinic. For self-pay patients, the average costs of the hospital day is 2,470.00 RSD (general care), and 3,600.00 RSD for semi-intensive care. All other diagnostic and therapeutic services are separately charged.
The price list for certain services is given below:
Diseases of the thyroid gland:
• Clinical examination- the costs are based on the doctor’s fee: specialis’s fee -1,100.00 RSD; primarius’ and doctor’s fee – 1,300.00 RSD and professor’s fee- 1,500.00 RSD;
• Thyroid gland ultrasound – 1,820.00 RSD;
• Needle tap aspiration and cytological analyses – 1,330.00 RSD;
• Mini-intervention procedures –sclerozation of thyroid cysts and nodules;
• Radioisotopic imaging and analysis followed by scheduling an appointment at the Nuclear Medicine Institute.
All the above-mentioned procedures can be performed on the same day basis.
Diabetes:
• Clinical examination- the costs are based on the doctor’s fee: specialis’s fee -1,100.00 RSD; primarius’ and doctor’s fee – 1,300.00 RSD and professor’s fee- 1,500.00 RSD;
• Education on the treatment options, prevention of complications and nutrition diet consultation services are included in the clinical examination cost;
• Doppler – blood vessel sonography – 3,200.00 RSD;
• Administration of infusion angioprotective therapy -680 RSD per infusion (at least 10 infusions are usually prescribed)
All the above-mentioned procedures can be performed on the same day basis.
Other endocrinopathies:
• Dynamic tests in Endocrinology; the costs are based on the complexity of the procedure and the number of analyses of morphological localized procedure along with scheduling a radiology appointment.
All the above-mentioned procedures and the treatment services are rendered during the morning shift and afternoon operating hours between 15.30 and 19.30 hours by scheduled appointments every day.
