History
The history of Infectology Medical Service and the beginning of operation of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases coincide with the beginning of operation of the General Military Hospital. The hospital had a Section for Infectious Diseases operating within the framework of Internal Diseases Department. In 1924, the Section grew into the Department of Infectious Diseases, and, in 1961, it developed, in organizational terms, into the Clinic for Infectious Diseases. It was headed by Col. Assist. Prof. Dr. Roza Papo. In 1968, the Center for Tropical diseases was added to the Clinic’s roster. In 1982, the Clinic moved into a new MMA’s building. It had a new organizational structure. It was divided into two departments (the First and Second Department) and the Infectious Diseases Ward with Diagnostic-Laboratory Service.
