Clinic for Dermato-Venereal Diseases

The Clinic for Dermato-Venereal Diseases is highly specialized for diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and adnexa as well as sexually transmitted diseases. It boasts the state-of –the-art equipment and is unique of its kind in Serbia for its Laboratory for Immunodermatology, which secures and analyzes tissue and serum samples for immunofluoresence tests.

The Clinic for Dermato-Venereal Diseases continues the tradition of the Dermato-Venereal Department, which had operated as one of the units of the General Military Hospital since 1909, when the hospital was established. The Clinic organized in the current way has been operating since 1980.

It admits more than 1000 patients each year.
It has 36 inpatient beds in operation located on the 10th floor.

It comprises the following units
•    The First Department, which operates 24 beds in 7 patient rooms (one apartment, one six-bed patient room, one 4-bed room, four 3-bed rooms, intensive care unit).
There is also one operating room for dermatosurgical procedures at the Clinic;
•    The Second Department has 3 patient rooms with 12 beds all together (one four-bed room, two three-bed rooms, two intensive care units).

The Laboratory for Immunodermatology is housed on the 10th floor. It   analyzes tissue and serum samples for immunofluoresent antibody tests. It operates every day and is the only one of its kind in our country. It detects and identifies a wide range of antibodies such as antinuclear, antimitochondrial, anti-smooth muscle, antiparietal, anti-dsDNA, LKM, antineutropfil, cytoplasmic, pemphigus, in the basal membrane area, antiendomysium and antireticulin antibodies. It also performs direct immunofluorescent skin and mucous membrane test as well as direct and indirect immunofluorescence on   chemically  split skin for the detection of autoantibodies.

The Functional Diagnostic Unit and the Dermato-Venerology Ward operating under the framework of the Outpatient Diagnostic Clinic is housed on the 4th floor of the Outpatient Diagnostic Clinic’s building. They perform the largest number of diagnostic (skin ultrasound, ultrasound examination with Wood’s lamp, dermatoscopy of pigmented skin disorders) and a part of therapeutic procedures (photodynamic therapy, rejuvenation treatment of the aging face and removal of the extremity small veins using a combination of diode laser and radiofrequency waves and phototherapy as well.
