Demielizing disease of the Central Nervous System (multiple sclerosis)
Neurology Clinic offers full range of diagnostic services which include:
• all evoked potential modalities (Somatosenzory evoked potentials-SSEP,
Visual Evoked Potentials-VEP, AEPMS, Motor Evoked Potentials-MEP, Cognitive Evoked Potentials-CEP), liquor analysis (cytochemical analysis, immunoglobulins, albumins, oligoclonal responses, IgG), and
• diagnostic procedures by which all alternative diagnosis can be excluded and which may be differentially diagnostically used upon establishing diagnosis of disseminated demielizing disease of the Central Nervous System;
• MRI of endocranium and medulla spinalis, in coordination with the Radiology Institute;
• Therapeutic procedures for acute deterioration of the diseases (relapses), symptomatic and physical therapies, and
• Immunodulatory therapies (interferon (INF) beta) performed with 10 year experience.

The Medical Neurology Service exists since 1924, and the current organizational structure of the Neurology clinic was adopted in 1984.
Organizational structure
The Clinic comprises two 24-bed clinical departments. So, it operates 48 beds all together. It also has Functional Diagnostic Unit and Neurology Ward operating within the framework of the Outpatient Diagnostic Clinic.
On average, the Clinic daily operates at 80% of its full capacity. The treatment and examination of civilian self-pay patients does not exceed 5 days. The average number of examinations range between 10 and 15, and about 20 patients per doctor are seen at the Neurology Cabinet each day. The Neurophysiology Ward performs 16 EMNG and 15 EEG on daily basis and 6 batteries of evoked potentials on Wednesdays. The Department performs between 8 and 10 ultrasounds imaging of the neck blood vessels and 2 to 3 TDCs.
As far as the treatment costs are concerned, the Neurology Clinic is one of the clinics with the least consumption rate for medical material.
Medical team
The Neurology Clinic’s experts are highly qualified and skilled. It can be illustrated by the fact that of all available doctors operating within the Neurology Service framework, 7 have defended their doctoral dissertation, 6 of whom hold the titles of professor, assistant professor, or fellow researcher. The Clinic also has well qualified and trained medical technicians.
