The MMA complex covers the area of 21 hectares. The building itself represents one of the architectural symbols of Belgrade. It is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the city, on the Banjica hill. It was designed by the award-winning architects, Colonel Josip Osojnik and Slobodan Nikolić, whose project won the bidding announced in 1973 and brought its designers "22nd December" prize. The construction of the building according to the so-called engineering system was entrusted to the civil engineering company Ratko Mitrović. Another 48 companies from the whole country worked on that project. The hospital moved into a new building and began operations on January 01, 1982. The hospital itself stands as tall as 14-story building covering 180.000 square meters of space divided in more than 60 different technical-technological entities with 6.000 premises.
