Celebrating the jubilee of the MMA ENT Clinic and military ENT

21. 12. 2023

The ceremonial academy marking seven decades of the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic of the Military Medical Academy and one hundred and twenty-five years of military ENT in Serbia was held today in the Ceremonial Hall of the Belgrade Hall of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The beginnings of military otolaryngology in Serbia are related to the completion of the Military Hospital in Vracar in 1909, while the first Department of Otolaryngology was introduced within the General Hospital in 1893. After the introduction of teaching activities, in 1953 it reached the rank of Clinic. From its beginnings until today, numerous generations of doctors, nurses and employees have, according to the Head of the ENT Clinic of the MMA, Colonel Prof. Dr. Milanko Milojevic, made great efforts to make it grow and develop over seven decades.
- These were often pioneering steps, be it new diagnostic methods or surgical techniques. I use this solemn moment to thank our teachers - professors, primaries, ENT specialists, from whom we had the honor and opportunity to learn - said Colonel Prof. Dr. Milojević, noting that the generations of medical technicians, who also made a great contribution to the development of the Clinic and the formation of new generations of doctors, also deserve gratitude.
The film, which was made on the occasion of 70 years of existence and work of the ENT Clinic, was presented, and according to the Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Prof. Miroslav Vukosavljevic, PhD, fully illustrated the decades-long work and effort of the employees at the ENT Clinic.
- This is another important jubilee of the Military Medical Academy, on the eve of the celebration of the 180th anniversary of the existence of the Military Medical Academy. This is an opportunity to look at how many generations have contributed to the fact that today we have a tradition for the pride of our entire country. It obliges us not only to remember the rich history and the founders of all branches of military medicine, but also to preserve the trust of the people by daily improving the quality of our work - said Colonel Prof. Dr. Vukosavljevic.
On this occasion, the Head of the MMA, Professor Dr. Vukosavljevic, presented certificates of thanks to all those who made an immeasurable contribution to the Clinic with their work, among whom were Prof. Dr. Kiril Haralampiev, Prof. Dr. Boza Ristic, Prof. Boris Kitanoski, PhD, Dusan Bijelic, PhD, Prof. Dr. Mihael Podvinec and Prof. Dr. Andrew Fisman, as well as senior nurses Milena Kovacevic and Slobodanka Svilar.
The former Head of the Clinic, Prof. Dr. Kiril Haralampiev, said that many doctors who are no longer with us also deserved thanks, because they all contributed to making the Clinic one of the leading ones in Yugoslavia, and even today in Serbia.
Members of the Ministry of Defense's Ensemble "Stanislav Binicki" also graced the anniversary celebration by performing the tracks "Miris žene", "Perhaps" and "Sway".
