Conference on Medical Defence against Biological and Chemical Warfare Agents

 International Conference on Medical Defence against Biological and Chemical Warfare Agents was held at the Military Medical Academy in Sophia, on April 26-29, with participation of eminent experts from France, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Germany, Croatia and other countries dealing with detection, identification and diagnosis of potential biological and chemical agents, as well as preventive measures, prophylaxis, medical care and treatment of individuals exposed to those agents in biological and chemical accidents.

The delegation from Serbia was composed of two MMA’s experts: Research Fellow Elizabeta Ristanović, MD, PhD and Gordana Ercegović-Vuković, MD.

Doctor Elizabeta Ristanović delivered a plenary speech on Double- purpose equipment used in the production of biological weapons and co-presided over the session  covering biological weapons and medical protection against their use.

Doctor Gordana Ercegović-Vuković from the MMA’s Clinic for Emergency and Clinical Toxicology presented our experiences and underlined clinical significance of therapy with oxynims and bicarbonates in the treatment of acute organophosphate pesticides intoxication
