Hungarian Military Medical Delegation in the visit to the MMA

Belgrade, May 14 – The visit of the Hungarian Armed Forces delegation led by Col. Laslo Molnar to the Military Medical Academy was a part of their planned activities within the framework of their working visit to the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Serbia.  During the visit to MMA, they could raise their awareness about the organization, functioning, main activities and capacities of this institution.
The MMA’s Deputy Head, Col. Prof. Dr. Nikola Filipović with his associates extended a warm welcome to their colleagues from Hungary.
In the following, the members of the Hungarian delegation were introduced into the capabilities and the way of operation of the MMA’s Poison Control Center which also serves as  a national referral center  for treating the injured and sick in case of chemical accidents and mass catastrophe situations.
During the discussions with the Management of the Poison Control Center run by Col. Prof. Dr. Dušan Jovanović, they shared professional knowledge and approaches  to planning and executing medical care-related operations in case of potential nuclear or chemical contamination.  Experiences of the MMA’s experts in the treatment of   individuals contaminated with chemicals substances and follow-up of individuals who were engaged, within their regular duties, in decontamination of areas heavily shelled with DU ammunition.
The Hungarian delegation was then taken to a short tour around the  PCC’s Department for Admission and Triage of toxicological patients where they could see what capacities it had and  what admission and treatment procedures in case of poisoning it applied.
During the visit to the Academy, the members of the Hungarian delegation expressed their wish to continue and extend cooperation in the field of medical protection of the Armed Forces members of both countries.
