Seven Decades of the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns marked

Seven decades of work of the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns was marked at the Military Medical Academy. The ceremony was attended by the Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric, Defence Minister Assistant Milos Jankovic, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, the Military Medical Academy employees and numerous guests. The monograph dedicated to the jubilee of the Clinic was presented at the ceremony whereas the guests, its present and former heads, talked about the history and success of this institution.
Congratulating the hosts on jubilee, the Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar said that the fact that in the structure of the Clinic’s patients around 45 percent are citizens out of the defence system is something to be proud of, expressing special thanks for this.
"Your history and everyday work, as well, show clear progress, and I invite you to keep your results at a high level or even higher. While working the Ministry is at your disposal in order to help you and support all your ideas", Minister Loncar stressed and told the personnel of the Clinic not to wait for others to catch up with them, but to strive for constant improvement and to help the other institutions on the way of reaching high standards.
Talking about the significance of the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns for a hospital, State Secretary Nenad Neric emphasized that the military health care in Serbia has always followed world trends in contemporary medicine.
"The institution has been developed according to the world standards and soon it has become recognized in the world, and what the importance of the plastic surgery is was best shown during 1990s wars, when more than 70 percent of the wounded were treated at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns of the Military Medical Academy", Neric said and added that we can stress with pride that this institution has been and still is the leader in this field in the South Eastern Europe.
The Military Medical Academy Deputy Head Colonel Dragan Dincic, PhD, the Clinic Head Colonel Nenad Stepic, PhD and retired Brigadier General Prof. Marijan Novakovic, PhD, talked about the history of the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns, the most important professional achievements and people who marked its seven decades long development.
