Belgrade, September 24 – The MMA’s expert team led by Major General, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Jevtić, the MMA’s Head, took an active and noticeable participation in the European Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) held in Lisbon, Portugal, on September 19-23, 2009.
The MMA’s delegation was composed of radiologists LtCol. Slobodan Ćulafić, MD and Siniša Rusović, MD, and Major Ivan Marjanović, a vascular surgeon.
The Congress brought together 6000 experts from all around the world. More than 700 original scientific papers were presented and several professional workshops were organized.
The Congress topics dealt with contemporary approaches in Surgery, primarily for minimally invasive, minimally traumatic and multidisciplinary procedures in Vascular Surgery, Cardio Surgery, Metastatic and Primary Tumor Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology and other surgical branches as well.
During the Congress, within the program devoted to the management of complications in Vascular Surgery, the MMA’s expert team presented a case of endovascular repair of post traumatic multiple femoral-femoral and popliteal-popliteal arteriovenous fistula with viabhan and excluder stent graft titled „ ENDOVASCULAR REPAIR OF POST TRAUMATIC MULTIPLE FEMORAL-FEMORAL AND POPLITEAL-POPLITEAL ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA WITH VIABHAN AND EXCLUDER STENT GRAFT-CASE REPORT“.
The paper of our experts was ranked among the 10 best Congress papers by the Scientific Board due to the modern team approach to management of a growing problem of vascular trauma by endovascular surgical technique, which the Military Medical Academy has, in recent years, been applying very successfully for elective and emergency repair of the aorta and magistral arteries
