14. 03. 2017

Head of the Group of Neuropsychiatric Clinics of the Military Medical Academy Colonel Prof. Dr. Ranko Raicevic delivered a lecture at the scientific forum of Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (MASA) on Friday, 10 March 2017.
The lecture titled "Cerebrocardial interaction - clinical importance" referred to the heart-brain disease connection. Regarding the issue whether a brain disorder can cause a disorder of cardiac function, or vice versa, a professor Raicevic stated that the dilemma could not be solved in most cases and that the body must be considered as a whole because it has subtle mechanisms of adaptation to environmental conditions. During the lecture the importance of further research of cerebrovascular diseases was highlighted because those diseases are considered as the first cause of mortality in women in Serbia, and the third leading cause of death in the world.
The lecture was attended by the President of MASA Academician Dragan K. Vukcevic, members and associates of the Academy, as well as doctors of different branches of medicine.
