16. 01. 2012

Today’s arrival of the first two Algerian officers at the Military Medical Academy and a cordial welcome extended to them by the MMA’s head, Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. Marijan Novaković marked the beginning of the 3-year program with tailored advanced study and training for 15 Algerian military physicians. Lieutenant Colonels Kaml Ahmed and Belounes Ferid will undergo a 3-year residency training in Aviation Medicine and Epidemiology at the Military Medical Academy.

Brigadier General Novaković expressed his contentment with the fact that this program was conceptualized, designed and agreed upon in a realtively short period of time thanks to the excellent cooperative relationship existing between the Defence Ministries of Serbia and Algeria. He also added that the MMA as a healthcare, educational and scientific research institution and the largest military hospital in this part of the world as well, is the right place for the Algerian military physicians to acquire new knoledge that would satisfy the world standards and trends of military medicine.

In addition to Aviation Medicine and Epidemiology, this program offers as well the Algerian military physicians training in the following areas: tactical formation of the Military Medical Services, military hygiene, NBC protection, military supply and Navy medicine. Programs lasting from 3 months to 3 years would be conducted in both Serbain and English language. To better meet practical Serbian language–related needs of the Algerian officers, the Military Academy will organize such a course for them.
