Annual Awards for the Best Scientific Papers

Celebrating the Day of Serbian Armed Forces, Central Military Club hosted the annual award ceremony for the best scientific research project, Ph.D thesis and master work within the Defence Ministry and Serbian Armed Forces and the best article published in the magazine “Vojno delo”.
On this occasion, State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic delivered the letters of thanks to the awarded. Project manager Colonel Prof. Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljevic from the Military Medical Academy received the award for the best scientific research project, while Major Dr. Dragan Pamucar from the Military Academy was recognized for the best Ph.D. thesis and Major Ljubinko Karapetrovic, M.Sc. from the Military Academy for the best master work.
Annual award “Vojno delo” for the best article published in 2013 in the named magazine has been delivered to army clerk Danijela Protic from the Center for Applied Mathematics and Electronics of the General Staff Department for Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Proving this year selection, Major General Prof. Dr. Mitar Kovac, Chief of the Strategic Planning Department and President of the Commission for the 2013 annual awards said this was the ninth time the awards were traditionally delivering with the aim of scientific research affirmation in the defence system. He also presented the importance of the Commission members, i.e. the scientists in the fields covered by the awards.
Congratulating this year awarded, State Secretary Djordjevic appreciated the awards as specific confirmation of the scientific research role in the defence system development and the need to award the most successful individuals thus stimulating their scientific contribution.
- One of the indisputable facts is that science is extremely important for successful functioning of each army, both war and peace conditions in Serbia and world. Through the history, sciences related to the defence have been adapting to the army needs, however, the army also was adapting to the changes imposed with the new technologies-stated Djordjevic, stressing that new knowledge and modern competences are the result of scientific researches, especially when speaking about weapon and the other modern equipments projects.
Reminding the attendees on the most important scientific results in defence system in the past year, State Secretary Djordjevic emphasized the fact that members of Defence Ministry and Serbian Armed Forces participated at 85 scientific conferences and events, 20 fairs of military equipment whilst 19 members defended doctoral theses at the Defence University and 5 doctoral theses in the civilian institutions.
-In the area of international scientific research, we have great expectations after the Republic of Serbia has signed the administrative contract with European Defence Agency. During this year, supported by the Defence University, we will try to access the biggest scientific EU program „Horizont 2020“, said Djordjevic pointing out the awards as the impulse and invitation for all defence members to continue with their scientific research.
