Donation of members of the medical team from the People's Republic of China to the Military Healthcare Department

02. 06. 2020

Members of the medical team from the People's Republic of China who are engaged in providing assistance in curbing the Covid-19 epidemic on the territory of the Republic of Serbia have donated today an apparatus for increased removal of secretions from the respiratory tract to the Military Healthcare Department.
Head of the Military Healthcare Department Major General Dr. Uglješa Jovićić on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and Military Healthcare thanked the Chinese medical team for the donation. He pointed out that the medical team came from China at the beginning of March and helped with advice, lectures and donations all the time.
- We were together at the Military Medical Academy, they gave lectures on how to use protective equipment, how to treat people, how to create zones in military hospitals. They helped us all the time, not only with advice and lectures, so not only in a professional sense, but also in a financial sense. They donated protective equipment and everything we needed to be able to protect ourselves, and today they donated a device for easier coughing. It is important that this friendship is permanent, that we will expand and deepen it and that we know we have friends in distant China who we can invite at any moment and turn to them for help and advice - said General Jovičić.
A member of the medical team from China, Dr. Peng Jijiang, pointed out that the device was researched and manufactured by a company from Guangdong and that it was used in hospitals in Wuhan - the city that was the biggest hotbed of the Covid-19 epidemic, and that it was used in patients with severe clinical picture in military hospitals.
- The device uses a vibration model and in that way releases secretions, thus facilitating expectoration.
In that way, patients with Covid-19 free up space in the respiratory organs and can breathe easier. Given that this device has achieved very good results in China, we have decided to donate one and see what the results will be. We hope that it will give good results in Serbia as well and help in the faster recovery of seriously ill patients - said Dr. Peng Jijiang.
As pointed out by the Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Prof. Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljević, that military healthcare institution has not had such an apparatus so far.
- The device will be extremely useful for all patients with problems, not only with Covid infection, but also other lung diseases, as well as for the treatment in the intensive care - said Colonel Vukosavljević and thanked "steel friends" from the People's Republic of China.
