International meeting of neurosurgeons at MMA

The eighth annual meeting of the Association of Neurosurgeons of Serbia with international participation "Current concept in military neurosurgery - The state in the field" organized by the Association of Neurosurgeons of Serbia and the Clinic for Neurosurgery of the was held from December 7 to 10, 2022 at the Military Medical Academy.
The Congress was opened by the Minister of Education Branko Ružić, while the opening speeches were given by the President of the Association of Neurosurgeons of Serbia, Professor Dr. Lukas Rasulić, the Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Prof. Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljević and the president of the European Association of Neurosurgical Associations, Prof. Dr. Andreas Dimitriades.
While emphasizing the importance of the topic, which greatly contributed to the necessary multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of patients, it was pointed out that specific clinical experiences, diagnostic procedures, the latest achievements in the field of treatment, complications, but also civil-military cooperation, elective neurosurgery, new trends in the field of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as other interesting topics, would be an excellent opportunity for education and training, presenting domestic expertise and knowledge with a special contribution to the medical scientific community.
Four general scientific sessions, four sessions dedicated to military neurosurgery, sessions on reconstructive medicine, neurovascular access, technological innovations, complications in neurosurgery, anesthesiology and intensive care, five pre-congress courses, as well as a forum of young neurosurgeons were held.
The importance of the event for the scientific and professional public was supported by the data that a total of 427 participants from 36 countries around the world were registered, while the special nursing symposium was attended by 256 medical technicians from the country and the region. In every sense, the scientific event of global character gathered over 146 leading world experts in their fields, representatives of neurosurgical clinics and departments from Serbia, the region and the world, as well as presidents and representatives of important international and continental associations.
The congress with a unique theme, with specialists and medical teams from different branches of surgery and medicine in general, as a result had a meaningful scientific program. Including the presentation of the application of the latest achievements in everyday practice, familiarization with modern methods used in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients, the participants were introduced to modern trends and examples of good practice in the profession and science with the aim of improving competences, promoting science and skills, but also improving educational and professional standards.
