Belgrade, September 14 – The MMA’s implantologists Col. Assist. Prof. Dr. Novak Stamatović and Assist. Prof. Dr. Smiljana Matić are the authors of the book titled ‘’The Basis of the Oral Implantology’’. This book is the result of great experience gained throughout the years and teamwork of the MMA’s experts in this field. The book provides detailed historical review of Oral Implantology, descriptions of implantology procedures and kinds of implantology systems used in the world as well as implantology treatment methods.
The book also presents valuable information regarding bone replacements currently used in dental practice worldwide, including the one resulting from the research work of the MMA’s experts. The book contains experiences the MMA’s implantologist have gained in the treatment of war injuries of the face and jaw bones. The readers of this book have the opportunity to learn about the procedure of dental implant care.
Even though the Oral Implantology as a dental discipline has deep roots, it has been, in professional terms, established in the second part of the XX century. The Military Medical Academy has continuously been using implants in its dental practice since 1980, under the control of Col. Prof. Aleksandar Škundrić.
Set up as a part of the MMA’s Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery in 1988, the Department of Clinical Implantlogy and Surgical Prosthetics is highly specialized for all implantology therapeutic procedures. It also provided education and training for numerous experts from the former Yugoslavia
