Promotion of Textbooks in the Field of Military Medicine

22. 10. 2019

Media Center "Odbrana", as a publisher of military literature, could boast a rich opus that includes books devoted to medicine. For the needs of the Faculty of Medicine of the Military Medical Academy, Media Center "Odbrana" has published seven textbooks this year.
The textbook "Lupus nephritis - a modern approach to diagnostics and treatment" was presented by the author Dr. Violeta Rabrenovic, "Introduction to clinical work" was presented to the visitors by one of the authors Colonel Prof. Dr. Radomir Matunovic, and the textbook "Communication Skills in Medicine" by the author Professor Dr. Gordana Dedic.
That all three publications represent more than professional literature intended only for cadets and students of the MMA Faculty of Medicine speaks of a significant interest in these titles both at the fair stand of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as in the military bookstore "Vojna knjiga".
At a highly attended presentation, the authors introduced the reviewers of the published books and outlined their experiences in creating this scientific - educational literature. They outlined the essence of the textbook material to the visitors and introduced them with some of the interesting features that this literature brings.
Assistant Professor Nadica Marinkovic, Professor Gordana Mandic Gajic, and LtCol Assistant Professor Aleksandar Peric also spoke at the next promotion at the stand of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces on textbooks "Forensic Medicine" and "Medical Psychology" and the manual "Conservative treatment of rhinitis and rhino sinusitis".
Nadica Marinkovic emphasized that forensic medicine is specific because it "differs from everything that students learn during their education at the Faculty of Medicine, which is why it is taught only in the final years."
- What is different, those are chapters on weapons and warfare agents, which makes it different from other textbooks of forensic medicine, said Assistant Professor Dr. Marinkovic, author of the textbook "Forensic Medicine", which is also signed by associates Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor Dr. Snezana Djordjevic, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Ivica Milosavljevic and Retired Colonel and Master of Technical Sciences Vlada Kostic.
Unlike forensic medicine, which awaits students of the MMA Faculty of Medicine at the end of their education, according to Professor Gordana Mandic Gajic, the author of the textbook "Medical Psychology", this subject is found at most of the faculties at the very beginning of the study.
- My intention for this textbook was to be an auxiliary textbook of modest scope in order to help students adapt to their studies, and to motivate them to deal with difficult subjects that await them at the beginning of their studies and which represent the basis of medicine - concluded Professor Mandic Gajic presenting this textbook.
The manual "Conservative treatment of rhinitis and rhino sinusitis" is signed by Lieutenant Colonel Assistant Professor Aleksandar Peric, Assistant Professor Dr. Aneta Peric and LtCol Professor Nenad Baletic. Speaking about the knowledge that, with the help of this textbook, students and specialists in medicine will gain from, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Peric pointed out that this was a very modern multidisciplinary manual.
The monograph "Acute postoperative pain" presented at the promotion is written by Assistant Professor Dusica Stamenkovic, and Prof. Nebojsa Ladjevic.
