Regional Military Medical Conference Opened

State Secretary Bojan Jocic, Msc, opened the Third Regional Military Medical Conference at the Dom Garde in Topcider, having pointed out that its importance was the best shown by the number of participants, not only from countries in the region but also guests from Algeria, Turkey, Greece, Moldova and Azerbaijan, as well as Norway and the United States that assisted in organizing the Conference.
- Improving regional cooperation in the field of military medicine is one of the priorities, as it provides the highest quality assistance to all who need it. We witnessed the significance of friend’s support during emergency situations - said State Secretary Jocic.
According to the Head of the Military Healthcare Department Brigadier General, Dr. Jovicic, sharing knowledge at all levels of healthcare protection is essential for the improvement of the profession and science. Continuing regional cooperation in the field of military healthcare is therefore one of the most important tasks in order to maintain a high level of expertise and competence.
- In the years behind us, we had the opportunity to cooperate on numerous joint medical engagements; especially I would like to highlight international military exercises such as the recently held Vigorous Warrior 2019. Over the next two days we are going to discuss the further improvement of this important multinational medical unit’s activities in order to define them - said General Jovicic. 
Major General John Gerhard Reichelt (Norway), Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Peterson (USA) and Lt. Col. Zarko Micovic addressed the Conference. A special guest at this year's Conference was United Kingdom’s Special Envoy Lord Tarik Ahmet.
Presentations and panel discussions on military-medical cooperation, military medicine development and "smart defense" will be held during the Conference, which will run until 20 June 2019.
