The first symposium of nurses in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of Serbia in the field of health care and management of patients with bone fractures of the lower extremities in the organization of the Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology was held at the Military Medical Academy.

A large number of participants from health care institutions across the country had the opportunity to learn about the forms and mechanisms of fracture, clinical symptoms, treatment methods and types of immobilization, but also about complications after treatment of injuries. In addition, it was discussed about the early rehabilitation and specific care of these types of patients, thus a workshop on the means of transport immobilization was held.

Accredited expert meeting is a response to the need for continuous training of the medical staff regarding the care of polytraumatized patients due to the expansion of injuries sustained in car accidents and sports fractures of various etiologies. Modern principles and implementation of new trends in the overall health care treatment of musculoskeletal fractures are a significant contribution to the quality and success of treatment.
