The Best Scientific-Research Project

Belgrade, February 08, 2011. – Colonel Academician, Prof. Dr. Miodrag  Čolić, the acting dean of the MMA School for Advanced Medical Studies and the head of the Medical Research Institute is the winner of the annual ‘MOD Best Research Project Award’ of the Republic of  Serbia.   

Colonel Čolić is the leader of the MMA’s scientific research project titled ‘Clinical, pathophysiological and molecular aspects of the injuries and diseases’’. Within the framework of this project, 43 scientific research papers were published last year, of which 20 of them in renowned international magazines. The most important clinical research trials were focused on defining new protocols for obtaining immunostimulating dendritic cell as potential tumor vaccines, which, in the future, may have a significant clinical role in the treatment of malignant tumors.

This is a multidisciplinary project which involves a large number of researchers and teachers from the Military Medical Academy and its partner civilian institutions dealing with fundamental clinical research in the country.
 
    
At the yesterday official ceremony held in the Armed Forces Club, the annual awards for the best scientific research project, doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis done within the Defense System were awarded.
 
Present to the Ceremony were the Government Vice-president and the Minister of the Science and Technological Development, Mr. Božidar Đelić, Defense Minister Mr. Dragan Šutanovac with his state secretaries, the Chief of the AF General Staff, Lt.Gen. Miloje Miletić, the most responsible officers of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, representatives of the Belgrade University and numerous scientific workers.

Addressing the present to the occasion and awarded as well, the Republic of Serbia Defense Minister Mr. Dragan Šutanovac said that the Year of 2010 was for the Defense System reformatory and very successful, and equally successful in the scientific research domain. The Minister reminded the present that the Military Academy, Military Medical Academy and Military Technical Institute had been accredited what, according to him, was a precondition for the establishment of the Defence University. The Minister expressed his belief that the MOD would continue to develop its scientific potentials, and, through close partnership with the Ministry of Science, contribute strongly to the overall development of the country.

‘The Military Medical Academy pays  great attention to the scientific research, the results of which are applied in the everyday medical  practice, published in the most renowned scientific journals and reported at the world scientific scene. Today’s Award represents a valuable   recognition  to all MMA’s scientific workers, who have given their contribution to the work on this and many other projects, and an incentive as well to generations of our young scientists’’, the head of our institution, Maj.Gen. Prof. Dr. Miodrag  Jevtić said for the MMA’s web site on the occasion of awarding that prestigious recognition. He also stressed that, with respect to those projects, he expected to get support of respective republic ministries, and that the project results would be used for the purpose of further strengthening and affirmation of both the Defense system and Serbia in general.
