The Fifth Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course held at the MMA

In the organization of the MMA’s Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT Section of the Serbian Medical Society and Swiss ENT Friends Association and in coordination with MMA’s Center for pathology and Forensic Medicine, the Fifth Course in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery was held at the Military Medical Academy, on April 21-23, 2009. Prof.  Andreas Leunig, MD from the University of Munich was the Course director. 

There were 42 participants from Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia attending the Course.   They had the opportunity to acquire through practical work on cadavers knew knowledge and skills required  in the field of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery.
     
During the first two days, they attended the lectures on novelties in this field and practical training at the MMA’s Institute of Pathology.

Fascinating lectures were delivered by the experts from the MMA’s ENT Clinic, LtCol. Milanko Milojevic, MD, who presented  the experiences of our experts in this kind of surgery and Jelena Sotirovic, MD who focused on diagnosis of chronic rhinosinusitis.

On the third day, the attendees had the possibility to follow live endoscopic sinus surgery broadcasted from the 11th operating room in the MMA’s Amphitheater. The surgery was performed by Prof. Leunig himself.

The Course was highly valued by professional circles and the need for future organizing and running of such continuing education courses on regular basis was also indicated
