The World Hepatitis Day

28. 07. 2011

The World Hepatitis Day – 28th July - was the reason why VMA’s Infectious and Tropical Diseases Clinic decided to once again raise awareness about prevention and setting early diagnosis of viral hepatitis, especially B and C, which is a global health problem with over 500 million people suffering from the disease and close to 1 million dying from it each year.

Close to 450,000 people in Serbia are infected with hepatitis. The Military Medical Academy is one of the most renowned national health centres for treatment of chronic viral hepatitis which carries out complete diagnostics and provides contemporary treatment of this serious illness.
The Head of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Clinic, Prof. Dr Darko Nožić is also the Vice Chairman of the National Commission for Approval of Therapies for Chronic Viral Hepatitis C.
