Bandage putted after the blood donation should not be removed in the next two hours. If the bleeding continues after the bandage removal, you should press the place where inserting a needle and lift the arm for three to five minutes. In case of bruises, the application of cold and warm compresses in the next 24 hours will be helpful.
After the donation process you are allowed to eat as usual, while the Institute provides you snack and refreshment posterior to procedure. The nutrition can be enriched with iron and vitamins, if needed. It is also recommended to drink more liquids in the next 24 hours.
You can continue with the regular everyday activities, but avoid physically demanding work with a hand where being drawn blood at least 5 hours after the procedure. Smoking is to beware for the next two hours, and alcohol for the next 8 hours.
